Winners announced for 'Why be a Forester?’ video competition

Congratulations to Tom Fairman, whose video has taken out first place in the ‘Why be a Forester’ video competition. Tom’s video describing his motivations for becoming a forester has now earned him ticket to the 2017 Institute of Foresters Australia Tropical Forestry Conference in Cairns as well as a $500 travel/accommodation voucher.

Videos were judge by a panel of undergraduate students, who rated the entries according to their visual appearance, quality of responses to the questions asked, general ‘wow’ factor and capacity to inspire young people into the profession.

Well done also to second place winner Lou van Rikxoort, who will be receiving a Fitbit Blaze ‘Smart Fitness Watch’ valued at $300).

All other entries will be receiving a $20 gift card.

This competition was run in conjunction with the University of Melbourne’s School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences, the Institute of Forester Australia and the University of Melbourne’s Forest Ecosystem Student Society.
