Situated on 15 hectares of land with adjacent native and plantation forests, Creswick has been an important location for forest science education since 1910, the historic campus containing original goldfields architecture significant to Victoria's heritage.

We acknowledge that the Creswick Campus is located on Dja Dja Wurrung land.

The Creswick campus is Australia's only dedicated forest ecosystem science campus where staff undertake extensive research in forest ecosystem conservation, forest industries and molecular biology.

Our scientists include plant geneticists, hydrologists, geomorphologists, soil scientists, fire scientists, ecologists, mathematicians, and engineers. These experts are collaborating to investigate a number of complex challenges including post-fire hydraulic and erosion processes in Australia, and the effects of fire on carbon content in forest soil, litter and understory. One of our academics has sequenced the Eucalyptus tree genome, for the development of plantation trees with a number of properties sought by commercial enterprise.

Research at Creswick has a long history of support from the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and its predecessors. This support has helped equip Creswick with analytical, teaching, microscopy and forest industry laboratories.

The campus has a significant collection of trees planted and nurtured as an arboretum over its 100 year history, is near to a 610 hectare demonstration forest and is adjacent to the Victorian Timber Training Centre and Creswick Landcare Centre.

Accommodation is available for members of the University of Melbourne community engaged in study or work at the campus. The campus also offers a range of flexible spaces available to both the University community and external groups for teaching, training, meetings, workshops etc.
